Glenbrae Children’s Centre
8 Weeks
Inverclyde Council appointed Marley Contract Services to undertake a comprehensive re-roofing and solar PV installation project at Glenbrae Children’s Centre in Greenock.
The works involved the refurbishment of approximately 610m² of pitched roofing, alongside the installation of integrated solar PV technology in partnership with Marley Ltd. The project formed part of the council’s ongoing investment in improving educational facilities while supporting long-term sustainability and energy efficiency goals.
The project included the full removal of all existing pitched roof coverings and the existing glass canopy before the installation of a new Marley 15-Year Full Roof System, complete with integrated Marley SolarTile technology.
As the children’s centre was closed during the school holiday period, Marley Contract Services was able to carry out the programme efficiently within a controlled and safe environment. This allowed our teams to progress works without disrupting staff, pupils, or daily operations, while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and programme delivery.
Working in partnership with Marley Ltd and on behalf of Inverclyde Council, our experienced site management team carefully coordinated all phases of the works to ensure the project was completed safely, efficiently, and within the 8-week programme.
The new roofing specification included integrated Marley SolarTile panels, providing a sleek, modern appearance while supporting the building’s long-term sustainability and energy efficiency objectives.
The completed project has provided Glenbrae Children’s Centre with a modern, durable, and fit-for-purpose roofing system designed to deliver long-term performance and protection.
The new roof has significantly enhanced the overall appearance of the building while improving weather resistance and reducing ongoing maintenance requirements. The addition of integrated solar PV panels will also contribute towards reduced energy consumption and lower operational costs for the children’s centre.
Completed within the 8-week programme, the project successfully delivered both functional and environmental improvements, supporting Inverclyde Council’s commitment to investing in high-quality, sustainable community buildings.
