As a high-quality employer and to enhance the service we offer you, we emphasise the importance of education and training here at Marley Contract Services.
As part of the Marshalls Group, we have on-going investment programmes in developing the skills and competencies of our staff.
We invest significantly in the training of our workforce with programmes designed to ensure our people have the skills and knowledge to install the full range of roofing materials. We are an SQA accredited training centre for the delivery of the modern apprenticeship qualification in roofing occupations and this is managed by our own in-house Training Officer.
As part of our responsibility to the next generation of roofers, we can offer extensive training schemes and apprenticeships to give technical know-how and practical operational skills.
Between them, the people in our organisation have a wide range of qualifications and professional/technical skills. Here are some examples:
Site Supervisor Safety certificates – The training courses highlight the need for risk assessment in the workplace, implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication and monitoring to provide and maintain positive standards of health, safety and welfare on a construction site.
Scaffold Safety Inspection Training certificates – This is designed so that supervisors understand the principles of tube and fitting scaffolding structures and their components, which aids site inspections and the identification of faults and hazards.
First Aid Certificates – The certificates demonstrate that staff have received comprehensive training to provide First Aid at Work and are specifically delivered to be in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Our in-house, full time training officer is responsible for all aspects of health & safety, quality and apprenticeship training. We are also a recognised centre for SVQ training in roofing skills.
We run an on-going programme of tool box talks for staff including site cleanliness and all aspects of health & safety, trade quality and craftsmanship.
We have an annual health & safety training programme for management, staff and operatives. This is reviewed and measured by senior management on an annual basis for continual improvement.
