Marley Contract Services wins NFRC Solar Award

Marley Contract Services has been recognised at the prestigious NFRC UK Roofing Awards 2025 after winning the Solar Roofing category for its large-scale social housing retrofit project with North Ayrshire Council.

The award-winning project forms part of a five-year programme aimed at improving energy efficiency across the council’s housing stock while helping tackle fuel poverty in one of Scotland’s hardest-hit regions. Marley Contract Services, working as the incumbent roofing contractor for North Ayrshire Council, has been installing integrated solar PV systems alongside reroofing works on a wide range of social housing properties.

Presented at the NFRC UK Roofing Awards ceremony held at the InterContinental London – The O2 on 9 May 2025, the judges praised the scale, technical complexity and social impact of the project. The scheme has already seen thousands of solar panels installed across mono-pitch, duo-pitch and multi-storey housing developments, with each roof requiring a bespoke solar PV design.

The project utilises Marley’s integrated 335W SolarTile system, designed to generate free electricity for tenants while maintaining a clean, aesthetically integrated roof finish. The installation programme supports North Ayrshire Council’s wider carbon reduction strategy and demonstrates how roofing and renewable technologies can work together to deliver meaningful benefits for communities.

The NFRC UK Roofing Awards are widely regarded as one of the roofing industry’s highest honours, celebrating excellence in workmanship, innovation, safety and project delivery across the UK roofing sector. This latest success further strengthens Marley Contract Services’ reputation as one of Scotland’s leading roofing and solar specialists.
