Marley Contract Services has earned its place on another framework agreement after successfully replacing roofs on over 40 Trust Housing Association properties at Millar Park in Hamilton.
Aside from the quality of work, a key target set by Trust Housing Association on this project was the health and safety of residents, visitors, the public and all operatives on site.
Marley Contract Services operates a Health & Safety Management system accredited under OHSAS 18001 and this helped the company exceed all targets with zero reportable incidents for the whole duration of the contract.
Following successful completion of the project, Trust Housing has now added Marley Contract Services to its Framework Agreement.
Paul McLaren, Property Asset Manager at Trust Housing Association and Contract Administrator on this project, explained: “The work carried by Marley Contract Services was to an extremely high standard and their adherence to our demanding health & safety requirements meant that there were no reportable incidents during this project.”
Paul added: “We received some excellent feedback from residents, which his testament to the professionalism and responsiveness of the company whilst they were working on site.”
With its specialist in-house skills and acting as principal contractor, Marley Contract Services was able to complete all elements of the roof replacements. This included tiling, rooflights, leadwork and rainwater as well as replacing large sections of patent glazing over communal areas.
The Millar Park properties were refurbished because the existing roof leaked and had only minimal levels of insulation. The scope of work therefore required Marley Contract Services to add 300mm insulation within the loft space to improve energy efficiency and comfort levels for residents.
All the work was carried out while the elderly residents remained in their retirement/sheltered housing. Marley Contract Services’ ability to act as principal contractor, and coordinate all activities on site, whilst appointing a dedicated resident liaison person, ensured disruption was kept to a minimum and that residents remained fully informed of progress throughout the programme.
Part of the Etex Group, a major European company, Marley Contract Services has ongoing investment programmes in developing the skills and competencies of its staff. The company has specialist skills in pitched and flat roofs, leadwork and sustainable building envelopes.
Billy Baird, Projects Director at Marley Contract Services, said: “Replacing the roofs on over 40 properties whilst residents remained in-situ demonstrates our ability to coordinate activities on site to ensure minimal disruption.”
